Swedish School / K - 12th Grade ( 5-18 year)
Swedish School is open to students from Kindergarten through 12th grade and offers supplementary education in school subjects during lessons held in Swedish. The students must have basic knowledge and understanding of the Swedish language prior to entering Swedish School. They are placed into different classes depending on age and fluency. Included in the curriculum are reading, writing, and verbal exercises in Swedish, as well as Swedish geography, history and science. The program also includes a Nature Day and classes with special emphasis on Swedish history, art, music, literature and sports.
Swedish School follows guidelines set by the Swedish Department of Education, which provides some of the funding for the school. It requires that at least one of the child's parents is a Swedish citizen and expects that Swedish is spoken daily in the home.
